After initially being recruited by Bondrewd under the implication that they would be trained as Cave Raiders, Nanachi befriends a young girl named Mitty on their descent into the Abyss. Together they are sent down to the sixth layer in one of Bondrewd's experiments. On their return, Nanachi's humanity was partially lost, while Mitty lost all of her humanity and became a grotesque, quasi-immortal assortment of flesh and misshapen limbs.
